Living Artists Contemporary Investment art Auction July 2024 Edition
Lot 256:
SHIPS FROM Falmouth, United Kingdom The ?Eshaness? vessel is made by hammer forming the initial shape from flat sheet Britannia silver, using hammering techniques that have been in use for millennia. ?Eshaness? is a peninsula on the west coast of Northmavine, on the island of Mainland, Shetland, Scotland. This piece marks a transitional point in Abigail?s designs, the first piece in the Elemental Landscape Collection. The design of the vessel represents the windswept, elemental landscape: the windswept twisted heather of the exposed island coastline. The vessel is a stunning centre piece for a table, side board or a well lit alcove. Abigail Brown has been producing contemporary designs in silver since 2001. She has exhibited internationally at venues including the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Saatchi Gallery, Goldsmiths’ Hall and the German Goldsmiths’ House in Hanau. Her silverware is widely collected and is included in the public collection of National Museum Wales in Cardiff. She is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths’ and she has been granted the Freedom of the City of London.
