SHIPS FROM Isle of Wight, England Charcoal study of the head of the Laocoon statue, thought by Pliny to have been sculpted by an ancient Greek sculptor for the Roman Empereror, Titus. It was unearthed in a vineyard near Rome in 1506. The enormous writhing original sculpture can be seen in its entirety in the Vatican Museum.
