Bowie is an icon. The technical style of this painting is reminiscent of icon painting, which was a part of my cultural heritage. Gold was traiditonally used to indicate the light of the Divine. I have used it for similar reasons – the light of the Divine shines through all the great artists of our epoch. London born Nadezhda is a selected member of the Royal West of England Academy Artist’s Network, and an elected Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts.
