Religious icons promote perfection for us to aspire to, but I reject this notion. It is imperfection that makes us great and loveable. My humanist icon is of Ben, a regular man, with an imperfect past, who aspires as we all do, to overcome. Being imperfect is beautiful. My painting is a celebration of that. Nadezhda is a selected member of the Royal West of England Academy Artists Network, and an elected Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. She specialises in portraits of musicians and male ballet dancers. Exeter UK
