SHIPS FROM Akwaeze Nigeria The art is to protect one’s identity, maintaining anonymity and serves as a shield to one’s face from harsh world conditions of inhuman act. Chibuike Ifedilichukwu [b.1986] from Akwaeze, Anambra Nigeria, is an artist working across mixed media, installation and performance art. His art practices today originated from ?Onataluchi? meaning gotten from the Creator and the childhood experience and influence while growing up with ?Asamma? his grandmother. Who is eco-friendly, skilled and has a strong belief in the Igbo philosophy which says ?onye bili, ibe ya bili? meaning ?live and let live. Her ideas cut deep into him and moulded his inspiration as an environmental artist, who sees nothing as waste but undefined values. However, environmental advocacy and sustainability lies at the heart of his artworks as symbol of hope. In 2021, Chibuike Ifedilichukw originated an art pattern of weaving mat as canvas with aluminum and plastic before creating the subjects on it. The technique was inspired by Akwaete fabric, basket and mat weaving, which is called Ikpanka (weaving art) or nkaute (mat art) in Igbo dialect.In 2024, he granted Educational Testing Service a non-profit assessment publisher located in the United States, permission on behalf of the National Centre for Education Statistics to use his artwork images, ?Asamma and Choke? in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) program.And has over twenty art shows and median publicity respectively. His numerous art prices are: in 2023 Global Art for Change Prize, Middle East/Africa, M&CSaatchi, London United kingdom; 2022 Winner, Hood Innovation, Naija Hood Rep / Quickraiz, Lagos Nigeria; in 2019 NYEES Grant, Engaging Creative Arts for National Development, Abuja Nigeria; in 2018 Overall Winner, Twilight, Life in My City Art Festival, Enugu Nigerian and in 2017 First Winner, Recycle Art Competition Sterling Bank Plc, Lagos NigeriaChibuike Ifedilichukwu obtained his Higher National Diploma in Fine Arts from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu Nigeria in 2012 with a concentration in Graphics. Before and after graduation he taught art in high schools, facilitated children’s art workshops and curated art exhibitions in Enugu. His professional affiliations are the Society of Nigeria Artists (SNA) and the Pan African Circle of Artists (PACA). Chibuike lives and works in Anambra, Nigeria.
