Living Artists Contemporary Art Auction
Lot 385:
SHIPS FROM Dorchester UK This is one painting from my series of abstracts painted with my non-dominant left hand. It explores the relationship between the physical paralysis of my left hand due to a brain infection, the feelings of loss and chaos as a result of the infection and finally the re-learning of skills needed to paint and to play music. ARTIST BIO I am an artist and musician, trained at Carlisle Art College and Reading. I have taught Art and worked as a musician and professional creative for all my working career. As the result of a paralysed left-arm and hand in 2019 I have used art to explore my non-dominant hand for drawing. i have been exploring the ideas that were coming to me during the regaining of fine-motor skills after the paralysis. Further to this experience, I have been funded by the Arts Council to work with Stroke recoverers at Stroke Clubs around the UK to create banners that are composite images of their work.
Condition: Good, as in the images
